Take it to be a matter of time that now Jolla is being taken to courts for the sake of its name. I wonder if you know it or not, but there is a Finland based company called Golla that makes accessories for mobile phones. The company has filed a case against Jolla that they have used their name which took them 2 million Euros to be registered. The company has also said that they could have anytime entered the mobile phone market as manufacturers and now the name Jolla would be a big confusion rather than a competition for them.
On the other side, Jolla officials have said that they have legally resistered the name. Even the approving officers have agreed and didn’t found any close relations among the two companies to be affecting each other’s business. “No, we do not believe there is a risk that customers will confuse Jolla phone to Golla bags”, said Antti Saarnio, Chairman of the Board at Jolla. Still, Jolla has been given the date of 11th February to answer. Let’s see what happens but to me, it looks more of a publicity stunt rather than a case. I’ve never heard of Golla before and neither the two names resemble something similar. But as the verdict’s not in our hands, we can wait for it. Do tell us of what you think and which side do you take.
