Seems like Jolla likes to redecorate their crew once in a while!
We have received a very interesting piece of news today, about Jolla changing their chief executive officer whom was Mark Dillon and is Tomi Pienimäki; Former CIO of Itella, the Finnish Post company.
They claim Mark Dillon will continue his work as the company’s software development lead. Like their former CEO Jussi Hurmola who is now focusing on “Sailfish Strategy” part of the company.
Tomi Pienimäki Shall continue his work in Jolla as the New CEO whilst Dillon according to Antti Saarnio (Jolla’s Chairman) will practically continue what he was doing before this change.
So basically Dillon had only the name “CEO” while he was leading the software development department which is located exactly where former Nokia’s research center is located and MeeGo was actually born in that place and was abandoned by Nokia for the sake of Windows phone. Since Jolla was founded from December 2011, and Nokia officially dropped MeeGo as their open source operating system people used to work in MeeGo department left the company for good, and few days later Jolla was announced via Twitter.
There are more new members joined the company:
Ari Jaaksi, senior vice president of McAfee, Head of Nokia’s Meego platform development and after that he did the WebOS-development at HP.
Steve Lau, an investor and the chairman and the CEO of the Chine Fortune Holding Limited. This company was the early mobile phone distributor for Nokia in China.
Boukerche Mohamed, entrepreneur and an investor that has a knowledge of Arabic and CIS-countries.
Good luck Jolla. All the best from us.
