Ever thought of Apple making an innovative phone since 2007? Not if you’re too young though…
Asked one of my friends today:
– Will you buy the new iPhone 5 S?
– So I can have it.
So I concluded this to my self as “I just want to have something that people think I’m rich/cool/able to show off”
Okay let’s see the new phones from Apple, they are iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.
There are two matters for this article as I shall now demonstrate.
You see, people loved apple for it’s innovation and the fact that it made everyone go WOW after any release, nowadays the amount of people whom actually go WOW after Apple’s announcements are catastrophically decreased since the real innovation is happening somewhere else I believe.
Since the first iPhone, there were and are and will be a lot of complains and compliments on Apple, and well to be honest Apple isn’t a company that cares about any of the things I said.
And as you might or might not noticed by now, Apple’s stock according to GSMarena is going down by %4.59 right after the event since the Wall Street Journal wasn’t happy about the result and reduced the support for apple’s stock.
The iPhone 5S
And we begin with this photo from International Business Times UK which shows the rather important stuff (Except from the inner processors which are indeed important but we’ll get to them later)
I don’t wanna make a fuss, or underrate anything but I’m looking at it logically and well I can say despite some minor changes, it’s practically the same as iPhone 5.
Why; you ask? Okay, iPhone 5S has the A7/M7 Processing chip which according to Apple is twice faster than the not quite out going A6 (Since it’s gonna stay longer with us on the iPhone 5C) which is a rather big claim since A6 is very fast indeed already. In a personal and yet logical point of view of mine, there was and is no actual need of this faster chip since:
- Developers are not gonna focus on one iDevice only therefore the specific apps will be few and finger countable.
- I have never seen anyone saying A6 chip is rather slow in fact the A5 chip is still intact, very fast and responsive
- The A7 is way ahead of it’s time. It’s no big deal tho, it’s just another faster processor but there was at least one more year to go for the A6 chip just like the A5 that is still pretty fast.
- iOS 7 is usable on any iDevice after iPhone 4 and that used a rather slow (By today’s standards) A4 chip so you do the math.
Right, Many might now say the A7 is not usable at the moment but it will be usable later, well that’s what I’m saying now, it was not needed in this period of time.
There are more things than just “making a faster processor” stereotype that can be counted as innovation on these days since it really doesn’t matter how many cores your processor has as long as the software is suitable and optimized enough for your hardware. So pretty much all the arguments on the A7 chip are invalid I guess.
Then we have the new Touch-ID which basically is gonna be a half baked feature since the finger print sensors has never really worked properly, plus the fact that Apple is an American company and as you might know by now, all American telecommunication related companies are forced to share people’s personal information with NSA spy systems. There was Siri to record the things you say and store them in those huge Apple server farms and now it’s the Touch-ID which basically collects your fingerprint and stores it where it should be stored, use it where it should be used. This is a rather intelligent yet dirty way of gathering personal information from people. You may not be really worried about your fingerprint getting collected, but you’re gonna feel more secure if it’s not stored somewhere right?
iPhone = EyePhone. Siri = Iris spelled backwards which is a part of the eye. Touch ID collects your fingerprint. We're Watching You.

That concludes the basics about the basic iPhone 5S.
The iPhone 5C
Which is exactly the reason I wrote this article. Apple announced iOS7 in about 5-6 months before these new pair of iPhones. Jolla on the other hand introduced their Sailfish OS with the ambiance feature and all other cool stuff like gestures back in November 2012 which shows the fact that Apple has actually ripped the Ambiance feature of Sailfish off and pasted it into their OS with a different name called “Ambient lighting” which is EXACTLY the same as Jolla’s concept of Ambiance. It looks at the background you chose, then matches the color of the phone’s user interface with the colors of your new background.
That aside, then it was the iPhone 5C announced yesterday, which again has ripped the ambiance feature off in a different level! This time, Apple took the exact colors of a Lumia 620, and mixed it with “The other half” idea and said: Wallpapers Matching the casing color. That sounded a lot familiar to me in a lot of ways, firstly it reminded me of The Other Half Ambiance matching which changed the whole UI colors while changing the back cover of the phone, then I saw the colors and I searched Lumia 620 and saw the exact colors on it except for the black…
I’m quite fascinated how Apple sued Samsung for copying the design of iPhone and won, but right afterwards they copy everyone else and they pretend like it’s their innovation.
The main issue here is the media that actually makes people believe that Apple is an innovator which was right 6-7 years ago but not any more.
It’s time to move on people; It’s time to switch! Call me biased, but I’m saying change is good sometimes 🙂 changing to something different and priceless! Not just following the media, being #Unlike is the key on these days…
