“DNA expects Jolla devices to be an attractive alternative for its customers. More than a year’s co-operation between DNA and Jolla will culminate in the launch of the world’s first Jolla phone next week. Such close collaboration between operator and manufacturer before the launch of a telephone is unique. Judging from the number of pre-bookings, there is demand for the Jolla across Finland.”
This is what DNA wrote on their press release today and it seems that they have been working “really” close to Jolla eversince their cooperation started.
“Jolla interests people since it has a fantastic story and is a genuinely different alternative. As a Finnish operator, DNA considers it important to support a new Finnish success story, in which we see great potential. We take a bold startup attitude to our own operations as well,” says Business Director Cedric Kamtsan, responsible for the Jolla project at DNA.
It also seems that other than normal operator – manufacturer relationship, ther has been more stuff like DNA having a very close participation in Jolla phone’s development.
“Close co-operation with Jolla has been a truly intriguing opportunity for us. We have brought a consumer perspective to product development and have also influenced the phone’s design and usability,” Kamtsan continues.
And as we knew;
“Sales of the much-awaited Jolla smartphones will begin on 27 November 2013, when a pop-up DNA Kauppa shop will be selling them on Narinkkatori, central Helsinki, for a single evening. The world’s first Jolla devices will be sold to consumers who have made a pre-booking and been invited to the event. The first batch to be sold in the pop-up shop consists of 450 devices.”
Happily I was one of the lucky 450 people who received the email and will attend the event as a press and a lucky Jolla receiver so I will be reviewing the device for you all, in depth, just in a few days later after I received my device.
