We have seen the KBTOH before. It was clearly a genius idea, and also a proof of concept which was in the hands of some perfectionists whom said that it’s not good enough.
It was bulky, the keyboard wasn’t as good as it should be, the corners were too sharp and basically it wasn’t designed no were near as a _everyday use keyboard_ should be designed. Although I admired it and it was practically the first ever functional TOH that was made for Jolla by a 3rd party whom in fact was Dirk from Funky OtherHalf.
A whole team including Dirk, Kimmo, Andrew and Shapeways company with obvious helps from Jolla themselves are working on this revision of KBTOH which makes it more interesting because this time instead of having a 3rd party keypad borrowed from other phones / companies, we’re going to have an actual keypad developed just for this particular TOH. I don’t think it’s going to come out cheap though!
This is the first “proper” video from Dirk explaining everything in regards of the new TOH. This is to show how the mechanics work and an introduction to the team behind it:
And this is the working demo of TOH but still with the mocked up keypad. This is just to show that it works:
This was only prototype number one, and it seemingly works good, but clearly under development!
Millions of thanks to the whole team behind developing this TOH. Shut up and take my money.
