They will gather together where it all began.
Of course, not the whole thing! But the main software showcase has started there in Slush 2012. I’m sure almost everyone was gathered around to see that “Unlike” operating system that everyone has been talking about for the past few months. We knew it’s called Sailfish OS, We knew it’s coming from MeeGo and we knew there will be similarities but we were worried at the same time about how a new company if going to bring us a similar MeeGo-like experience without any announced licencing from Nokia! We were about to get into a shock after we found out that [in the eyes of many] this was a better and more modern alternative to our good old MeeGo which was on our one and only Nokia N9 (Publicly speaking).
It was the first time that Marc Dillon took the stage as the new CEO. No one knew who he is in person! Everyone knew that he’s the new CEO and were waiting for something exciting to come until he screamed into the mic to make the sound guy deaf for not making things work properly! Then I said, ok this guy is cool 😀
There was no Jolla device back then! It was only an open hardware from Nokia, the Nokia N950 (A device which I still wish to own!)
And they showcased the earliest stage of Sailfish OS on that device, hoping to get no demo effects on the run, which they didn’t!
Do you all remember this?
Good news is that Jolla will still attend slush for this year as well! They almost made history on 2012 and when Sailfish OS finally gets distributed fully worldwide, everyone will surely remember the beginning.
The event will be held on November 18-19 in Helsinki. For more information, please visit Slush.org
Do you think Jolla will launch anything new at Slush this year? Since they’re facing their own iconic event, do you think they have something special prepared since they have been working on things as they tweeted?
