Coderus just published a small app which makes using Android IM-applications more appealing on Sailfish OS. The application adds lock-screen icon, sound, LED and haptic feedback to Android notifications.
Until now, Jolla users were only notified with an icon in the notification screen (thus usually no other feedback). A background-process of Coderus’ “Android notifications” listens to Alien Dalvik notifications and forwards them to the Sailfish OS’ notification system.
Alien Dalvik virtual machine still isn’t capable to run any background services as long as it is closed, so you need to have your IM-Android app like WhatsApp or Telegram run in the background (open window in multitasking-view) to get those feedbacks. Some Android applications might already play an own notification sound but often offer a possibility to turn them off (otherwise you get two sounds at once).
“Android notifications” is available on OpenRepos.net and via it’s Warehouse application – direct link here.
