We all have been waiting for our tablet since May 2015 which was the promised delivery time for the Jolla tablet which most of us kinda knew it won’t happen because of all the changes that are being applied to the OS 2.0 and the fact that it is extremely challenging to make a product from zero to a hundred in that short amount of time.
Anyway, it has been delayed once, from May to July, and understandably everyone has been accepting, sometimes nagging because of course they need their device since they mostly are tech geeks like me awaiting to try their brand new device that runs a very strange, and a very new operating system that has never been seen on a tablet before (Unless you want to count the unofficial Nexus 7 ports, which will be a different case) and also many people defending the fact that it’s been delayed for various reasons.
Well, apparently, according to Jolla’s latest official blog post the tablet might have been faced with some hardware assembly challenges which is related to the new display that they decided to use after the recent design change in order for a better display with a better color reproduction and overall a better technology piece, according to yet another official Jolla blog post which stated:
On the hardware side we’ve had some implementation challenges with the original display. Since we want to offer you the best possible hardware, we chose to switch to a new display. This display is better than the original with a more balanced color spectrum. The display change also causes a slight delay in the tablet production.
Now though, they are not directly telling us “Oh you are not getting your tablet now, so wait more!” , instead they have come up with the idea of transparency again, and gave us their reason so that we understand what’s going on behind the scenes.

(Nice touch on the featured image, Jolla!)
Of course, we all know that Sailors are working over time for the product to be out as fast as possible, especially now that it’s the holiday season they must be desperately doing their job as hard as possible and being restless so that they can catch up with their p families in a nice and relaxing holiday, but times are different at Jolla HQ! They even had their holiday starting really late last year, too.
Anyway, back to the main discussion: The tablet is being politely delayed again. For whatever the reason it might be!
There are good and bad sides to the story!
The good side being that the consumers will not get a half-baked device in their hands whenever they’re getting it. It’ll be a shame if the device is a problematic piece when it reaches the consumer, right? Defected devices are worse than late devices!
The other good thing is that, well, according to their blog post we’re getting a better display which is a huge thing mainly because we did not have the best display on the Jolla phone so that we can truly appreciate the colors of Sailfish OS (especially under direct sunlight, O.M.G!) and the display on the prototype that I saw was genuinely good! So if the new one is better than the previous one, it’s a big win!
The bad side would be a lot of other things. Disappointed awaiting customers whom were expecting their tablet on May, then July and now we don’t even know when is the release date!
Then there is the question of Jolla tablet getting older by technology terms every day without even hitting the shelves, which can be in some cases true since technology’s speed has been recently discovered that is faster than light! So each day can have an impact on how a newly released product is being judged, or going to be. Just like how Jolla phone was judged by its specs when it came out and as it turns out, Sailfish is still as charming as ever on top of that old-ass so-called outdated hardware.
But I’m not going to say everything out loud (Or, well, write them on my blog post!) and leave some more for you all amazing people who are taking your precious time and reading this! What do you think about the latest delay? And don’t be unfair please! There are good AND bad sides! Try seeing both of them and let’s see what we get out of it!
Come on, the comment section is open for some nice debate that I’ll also be taking part at. Write away!
In the mean time, when exactly do you think the tablet will be in our hands?
